Resize the panel and give a write-up the whole window
Drag any edge of the assistant panel to make it bigger, then press ⌥⌘T to hide the conversation, and a long write-up gets the full width. Dictera remembers the layout you leave, and one menu item puts it back.
How do I make the panel bigger?
Drag any edge. The panel has no title bar, but its edges resize it like any other window. The size you choose and the spot you drag it to come back the next time you open it, on the display you left it on. If that monitor is gone, the panel goes back to its default corner.
The columns inside resize too. Drag the divider between the session list and the conversation, or between the conversation and the result. When the window grows, the side columns keep the width you gave them, and the result gets all the new room.
How do I give a write-up the whole window?
Hide the conversation. Press ⌥⌘T, click the speech-bubble button at the start of the row under the tabs, or double-click the divider beside the conversation. Dragging that divider past its narrowest point closes the column as well. The window stays the same size, and the result takes over the width the conversation was using.
For even more room, hide the session list with ⌥⌘S or the sidebar button beside Close. Then ⌘= makes the answer text bigger, and ⌘0 puts it back.
The conversation toggle is only in Assist and Meeting Notes, because Chat has no conversation column. In Chat, lines stop getting longer past a comfortable reading width, and a wider window just adds margin.
Will the next call open at this size?
The full panel will, because it remembers the last size you left it at. Compact mode (⇧⌘F) is a separate window with its own remembered size. Widening the panel to read full minutes leaves the compact panel you keep beside a call just as small as it was. Showing the session list does widen the full panel, by the width of the list, and the top-right corner stays put.
⋯ ▸ Reset panel layout restores both window sizes, the column widths and the panel's default spot, and brings back a hidden conversation. It leaves the session list and the answer text size alone. The text size has its own Reset answer text size item in the same menu.
Can I change the keys?
Yes. All 18 panel shortcuts can be changed in Settings ▸ Shortcut, and Restore Panel Defaults puts them back. The rest of the panel's options are listed on the AI Assistant page and under features.
